What materials can the Ascent EDGE-3 process?
As a reverse letter bending machine, the Ascent EDGE-3 processes aluminum coil up to 0.063" for notching, flanging, and bending, and 0.080" for bending, as well as stainless steel for bending.
What is the minimum and maximum letter height the Ascent EDGE-3 can make?
Minimum letter height is 5 inches; there is no maximum; the height is unlimited. The machine can process materials from 1 inch up to 8 inches.
Does the Ascent EDGE-3 have an output cutter?

What about training and installation for the Ascent EDGE-3?
Installation and training for all Ascent bending machines are included in the price at your site, typically taking three days.
What's the difference between the Ascent EDGE-3, EDGE-4, 5AS, and MAX — which one do I need?
Ascent makes four CNC bending machines, each suited to a different job: the 5AS is the trimless/reverse-halo/F-trim specialist for shops moving away from trim cap; the Ascent EDGE-3 and EDGE-4 are traditional notching-and-flanging benders for trim-cap letters, with the EDGE-4 adding 8-axis servo precision and hole-punching; and the MAX is the large-format machine for letters over 8" deep or 0.125" aluminum. Does the bending machine come with the software I need, or do I have to buy it separately?
Yes — every Ascent bending machine ships with its own control software included in the price, running on a familiar Windows-driven interface and accepting standard CAD/vector files such as .dxf. No separate software purchase is required.
Is the bending machine hard to operate if my team has no sign-making experience?
No. Ascent's machines are designed to reduce the training time required for new operators — most people are productive within a few days of on-site training, and the material setup is pre-programmed and software-driven, so switching between jobs doesn't require manual recalibration. Can one operator run the machine for a full production shift, or do I need multiple people?
A single trained operator runs the bending machine for a full shift. Feeding, bending, and cutting are automated once the job is loaded — the operator manages material changeovers and quality checks rather than forming each letter manually.
How many channel letters can one bending machine produce per day?
It depends on letter size, material, complexity, and the operator's workflow, so no single number applies to every shop. As a general range, an Ascent bending machine can produce returns for approximately 100 to 300 individual letters in a typical eight-hour shift — simple, larger letters bend faster, while small, detailed letters or complex logos take more time. Because bending is automated, that pace stays consistent, and bending itself is rarely the bottleneck: the machine's own cycle time is fast compared to the rest of the assembly (welding, LED installation, stapling).
