As an aluminum trim-cap machine, the benefit is that the trim will not fade, crack, or distort over time. In addition, of course, you benefit from significantly reducing the labor in manually forming plastic trim.

Ascent CNC bending machines include a 3-year warranty: 2 years comprehensive (parts & labor) + 1 additional year (parts only).
Can you make aluminum trim with the Ascent TMB-3?
Based on Ascent Equipment's review of publicly available North American machines as of August 2026, we have not identified another machine offering this same combination of capabilities. The Ascent TMB-3 can take an aluminum coil and convert it into a trim cap, including shaping the letter.
What is the cost of aluminum coil trim vs. plastic?
Per foot, aluminum trim is 25% cheaper than plastic trim.
How do you attach the aluminum trim to the acrylic?
We add a PVC strip to the coil; standard glue (the same as used for plastic trim) can be utilized.
Can the Ascent TMB-3 process standard plastic trims?
Yes, it can process standard plastic trim for notching.
Can the Ascent TMB-3 make side returns?
The machine can create side returns with or without flanging.
What about training and installation for the Ascent TMB-3?
Installation and training for all Ascent bending machines are included in the price at your site, typically taking three days.
What gauge aluminum coil does the Ascent TMB-3 use to make trim?
The Ascent TMB-3 forms trim from flat aluminum coil with a PVC backing, the same backing that lets the finished trim bond with standard trim-cap adhesive. The trim itself uses a special aluminum alloy at 0.6mm thickness to form the crown; for side returns, the Ascent TMB-3 processes aluminum coil up to 0.040" thick.
Does aluminum trim come pre-finished in colors, or do I have to paint it?
It comes pre-finished — the aluminum coil is available in a variety of colors, with white, black, and red kept in regular stock and other colors available to order, including custom color-matching for national account programs.
How long does it take to switch the Ascent TMB-3 from one trim color or coil to another?
Changeover is fast since the Ascent TMB-3's material setup is software-driven rather than requiring mechanical retooling — loading a new coil is the main step.
What is F-trim, and when would I choose it instead of standard trim cap or trimless?
F-trim is a specialized preformed aluminum profile that the 5AS notches and bends around the letter shape, producing a slim, architectural metal border. It costs more than Ascent TMB-3 aluminum trim and requires a 1/8" polycarbonate face fastened with tiny nails rather than adhesive — it's the right choice for premium letters where a narrow, precise metal edge matters more than material cost. If you'd rather avoid a visible metal border altogether, trimless letters are also available on both the 5AS and 4AS using Ascent extrusions in 1.75", 2", 3", and 4" widths.
